Details

The InterMapper App for Splunk® is a tool for network monitoring and mapping from InterMapper, that enables the network administrator to proactively probe network hardware, software and bandwidth utilization in real-time to create actionable knowledge within Splunk®.
This App requires the latest version of InterMapper. You can download a free, 30-day fully functional trial of InterMapper at http://www.intermapper.com/products/Splunk-App/.

Syslog gives you what a machine thinks is happening. InterMapper probes give an independent view of the machine status. The combination of syslog and InterMapper active monitoring achieves a more complete and comprehensive view. View living network maps with both Layer 2 and Layer 3 in Splunk.

InterMapper can also view Layer 2 information if your switches supports it and display the physical port connections for your network.
