Installation is as standard for a Splunk Add-On
The Add-On can retreieve data from SonarQube via either basic auth or a token. For any new inputs, the credentials supplied must have browse permission in order to obtain data. In addition, basic auth will not work if you use SonarQube via an OAuth service.
After installation, please use the following steps as a guide
1. Open the Add-On
2. If using basic auth, go to configuration to enter the credentials used by the add-on
3. Go to inputs and create a new input
4. Fill in the details as requested on the input screen and you are away! Please note that inputs can be setup on a per-project basis, or for all projects which are valid for the auth details supplied.
The add-on is setup to collect any new information gathered since last run. This is calculated via the updatedDate supplied in the data sent from SonarQube. Each runtime is stored in the KV Store under the project name (if supplied, ALL if not), with data updated between the the start of the current run and the previous run being stored.
Please check you have the correct permissions should you not be getting any data into Splunk. It may be worthwhile using the alternative auth method if you find your preferred method isnt working.
Setting the logging level to debug is also advised if you encounter any issues as this should hopefully give you an idea as to where the problems lie. If you still are struggling, please get in touch or go to answers.splunk.com for more info.
